University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Athletics
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH Mānoa) offers a diverse NCAA Division I athletics program with approximately 450 student-athletes across 20 varsity teams.
In 2024, UH Mānoa announced its transition to full membership in the Mountain West Conference, effective from the 2026–27 academic year. This move encompasses 15 conference-sponsored sports, including:
- Women’s sports: Basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track & field, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, and volleyball.
- Men’s sports: Basketball, baseball, football, golf, and tennis.
Sports not sponsored by the Mountain West, such as men’s volleyball, men’s swimming & diving, women’s beach volleyball, and women’s water polo, will continue their affiliation with the Big West Conference.
These developments reflect UH Mānoa’s commitment to providing student-athletes with competitive opportunities and enhancing the university’s athletic profile.
Community Engagement and Support
Honolulu’s sports programs thrive on community support. Attending games, volunteering, and cheering for local teams are excellent ways to engage with and bolster our athletes. Whether it’s a high school football match or a college volleyball game, community involvement plays a crucial role in the success and vibrancy of Honolulu’s sports scene.
By participating in and supporting these athletic programs, we contribute to a culture of excellence and camaraderie that benefits the entire community.
